Writing out a good name

Proverbs 10:7
The memory of the righteous is blessed, But the name of the wicked will rot. NKJV

Even after people die we still think of them. Once you think of someone who was good, it is a blessing.  But the name of the wicked will perish. This means that when people hear your name, they smell rottenness. Here are some questions to ask in order to have a good name:

(1) Who am I? This has to do with the question of Identity. An average person is still struggling with answering this question. We don’t know who we are, so we are trying hard to be other persons. Because of the fact that you don’t have an identity, you want to be like Michael Jackson. You want to put on other people’s identity to feel important. Why do you want to dress like other people? What about your styles of doing things? What about your actions. Since you don’t have a style or identity you look for other people’s identity. Many people have lost their true self. They are like other people. You hate your own self and size and then you are trying hard to be like others. The industry of fashion is built on your lack of self identity. Who are you?

(2) Where did I come from? This has to do with our Origin. Many of our users will say they are from Africa; that is not true! If you try to find out where you are by using your ethnic heritage, you will get lost. The challenge here is that you can never know who you are until you find out where you are from.

(3) Why am I here? This has to do with PURPOSE; This is the most challenging question! This question is tied to the other two. If you don’t know where you are from and don’t know who you are, you will never know why you are here. Jesus usually describes His Purpose by the metaphors He uses: Light, that provide illumination, Salt that seasons people, Water, that refreshes people, Signboard, that provides direction, Bridge, that connects people, Rock that provides security and Wind, that provides influence to more people. Whoever I am I have to be the best. Why are you here?

  1. Dear Lord, help me to know who I am.
  2. Father, help discover my purpose on Earth.
